Time and date stamp

Hello. I’ve just been emailing support who tell me the time stamp is created by the user’s device, not a separate time server.

Is this correct? Surely it means that people can change the time on their device to say 0700, clock in then to 1600 and clock out, thus proving nothing.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Clockify forum!

Exactly, this is how the system registers time. It will record the time stamp created by the user’s device, not a separate time server.

But thanks for your feedback, it has been noted down.

Yes, that’s correct. The timestamp on a device is usually generated by the user’s device, and it can be manipulated if the user changes the device’s time settings. Therefore, relying solely on device-generated timestamps for activities like clocking in and out may not provide a secure and tamper-proof record.
