The app interface is a bit basic and that’s great, but the list of past clocked tasks isn’t that helpful - unless you need to edit something. It would be great if that list also showed a sum of the logged hours - preferably for a configurable span, like a month, a week, or maybe a custom number of days.

Yes, it is the same interface in Linux and Extension apps.
These two apps are mostly oriented on time tracking and they are used for collecting data, while for reporting and administration it is required to use the web app.
