I have set option to remind to time in the browser extension (MS Edge) - and even though I have a timer running for my account it has sent me a start timing notification. There is an in-progress option on the API to get the currently running timer for a user - that would then allow the extension to recognise another timer had already been started even if it was not started from the extension itself.
