Is it possible to assign various rates to one person? For example, we are billing $140 an hour for design work, but $100 an hour for production work, done by the same person. Is there a way to separate those to it reports accurately?

In this case, I would suggest using Task rates(available on the Pro plan), so you can create two different tasks under the same Project(e.g. Design work and Production work) and set different hourly rates for each task. Alternatively, you can create two projects and set hourly rates for each Project.
