I have several comments regarding the new desktop app UI.

  1. Fold/Unfold stacks
    In the new design user should click a small dropdown button in order to fold/unfold a stack of similar tasks. At the same time the entire task panel has almost no clickable elements. It will be much more convenient and intuitive to be able to just click on any place on the panel to fold/unfold it.

  2. Hints for icons
    The task panel has small icon indicators in the bottom left corner but they have no hints so it’s hard to understand what they means.

  3. The “Play/Continue” button
    In the new design the “Play/Continue” button is hidden under the three dot menu which is very inconvenient when you need to switch between tasks during the day (like meetings and the current work task).

  4. Overall impression
    In overall the new design moves user focus from the content itself to the composition UI elements. I mean that the text elements are less noticeable/expressive than containers, paddings, borders, shadows etc. By my opinion this makes it less readable and less usable although the new design takes more space on the screen.
