Summary:
Please add an option to sort time entries in the Timer view by most recently worked on (last modified / last tracked), instead of strictly by start time.
Description:
Prior to a recent update, the Timer view displayed entries with the most recently used or edited entry at the top of the list. This made it easy to quickly return to the last task worked on, especially when switching between multiple tasks throughout the day.
Currently, entries are sorted chronologically by start time, which causes older entries to remain higher in the list even if they were not the most recent task worked on. This makes task switching less efficient and requires additional scrolling or searching.
Requested Enhancement:
Add a sorting control (or toggle) in the Timer view with options such as:
- Most Recent Activity (Last Modified / Last Used)
(preferred) - Start Time (Ascending)
- Start Time (Descending)
Use Case:
Users who frequently switch between tasks (e.g., project-based or interrupt-driven workflows) rely on quick access to their most recent entries. The previous behavior functioned like a “recent tasks” list and significantly improved speed and usability.
Impact:
- Improves efficiency when switching between tasks
- Reduces scrolling and searching
- Aligns with common “recent items” patterns found in other tools
- Helps power users maintain workflow momentum
Additional Notes:
If replacing the current default behavior is not desirable, a user-configurable setting would provide flexibility without disrupting other users who prefer chronological sorting.
